Verboten Brewing and On The Hook Fish And Chips – a brewery in CO with unique beers and fish and chips from a food truck serving Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and Utah.
Since moving back to Loveland, we have been busy getting reacquainted with the place. Outdoor activities are high on our list for the weekend. Checking out local restaurants is also something we enjoy a lot and so it has been a lot of fun. We discovered a local brewery in town and have been meaning to pay them a visit and then I got wind of a food truck that was going to be parked outside their place. What can be better than cold beer and fish and chips? We’ve got a date and it was with Verboten Brewing and On The Hook Fish And Chips on Saturday, August 18, 2018.
Verboten Brewing & Barrel Project
Verboten Brewing is in the old part of Loveland. It was not around when we first lived here. Opened in early 2013, it is a boutique brewery with unique beers incorporating fruit and spice. The atmosphere is casual and relax. You order and collect your beer at the counter.
They have 17 tap handles and therefore 17 flavors of beer at any one time, each with a creative name. They all sound interesting and I had a hard time deciding which one to try. It is almost like choosing a wine. Maybe that is why they serve the beer in a goblet instead of a mug. Any guesses on my final choice? 😉
The beers are brewed on location and you can see it through a glass window from the restaurant. For a closer look, tours are available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Perhaps I might join them one weekend if time permits. It’ll be interesting.
Select flavors also come in 12 ounce and 22 ounce bottles so that you can enjoy it at home or at a get-together. Beer tastes better with food.
On The Hook Fish And Chips Food Truck
Yes, I think beer tastes better with food and fish and chips and beer are made for each other. I am not alone of this opinion because On The Hook Fish And Chips make several stops at different breweries in four states. You can check out their scheduled stops on their website.
On The Hook Fish And Chips was developed by two young University of Wyoming engineering students in May 2016. Today, it is a multi truck enterprise serving Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and Utah. I believe they try to revisit a city every month. At the date of this writing, they were back in Loveland this past weekend and once again they were sold out here.
Verboten Brewing and On The Hook Fish And Chips
A serving comes with three pieces of beer battered, line caught, wild Alaskan cod and a generous portion of chips with house made tartar sauce and sriracha mayo. Together with my goblet of beer, it was more than enough for me. I have to say I enjoyed my dinner very much and will be back the next time they are in town. 🙂
