Delicious Baked Spicy Garlic Potato Wedges that are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a slightly spicy and garlicky flavor.
Potato wedges are a delicious side dish that goes well with most other dishes. They are much simpler to make than fries as they can be baked and there is less slicing involved. Potato dishes are “crowd pleasers” and this is no exception. Both kids and adults enjoy them.
A Little Help from the Deli for Dinner
Yesterday was one of those days when life gets a little crazy. I was out and about and by the time I was done, there was little time left to prepare dinner even if I had the energy. Ever experience one of those days? I decided on a quick fix and so I swung by the grocery store with every intention of getting a rotisserie chicken. As I approach the deli, I changed my mind. The fried chicken looked so crispy and the aroma was so tempting. I was sold!
Baked Spicy Garlic Potato Wedges – an Easy Side Dish
There are few things that pair better with fried chicken than Baked Spicy Garlic Potato Wedges. I have a bag of Yukon Gold potatoes in the pantry that needed to be used. It only takes a few minutes to scrub and slice the potatoes into wedges. The oven will do the rest of the work while I sit down to catch my breath with a cup of tea.
Seasoning
Since I only had this one dish to prepare besides tossing a salad, I could afford to make it a little more “fancy”. I chopped a little garlic to infuse the olive oil with more flavor. This can be done easily in the the microwave and it takes only 45 seconds. I also added some smoky paprika chipotle seasoning or rub to the wedges.
These Baked Spicy Garlic Potato Wedges turned out awesome! They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a slightly spicy and garlicky flavor. You have to give it a try!
Please note: If you prefer not to have the garlic in the potatoes, please strain the oil after cooking before pouring it over the potatoes. Also, the potatoes may stick a little to your baking tray if there is insufficient oil. In this case, please line the baking tray with parchment paper.

I make these all the time! Isn’t the flavor terrific? Good tip to microwave the garlic in the oil. I sometimes do that, but usually am too lazy (why? it takes only seconds!). Good stuff – thanks.
Biren says
Yes, we love it! Microwaving the garlic is a breeze and it gives the oil added flavor.

Biren, You know I love potatoes, right? I want to bake this too!!

Thanks Ann! I think most people like potatoes. Just have to remember not to eat too much of it. 😉
Dina says
Biren,
I tried these with Sweet Potatoes and they didn’t get crispy at all… Do you have any ideas? The Flavor was Great!
😀
Thanks, Dina
Biren says
I have never tried these with sweet potatoes but I have made oven fries with them. They turned out a little soft too. The cooking time tends to be a little longer and I think you may need a lot more oil to crisp up sweet potatoes in the oven.

This looks like something to try when the potatoes come with the rest of the food. My usual way of making a similar thing use garlic to flavour a little oil plus rosemary for the main flavour so this would certainly make for a pleasant change
Linda says
Do give it a try. It is garlicky and slightly spicy. Thanks for stopping by.
